Drawing Fun With The Big Draw LA

Today we made our way to the Grand Park in downtown Los Angeles for a community drawing event – The Big Draw LA.  The beautiful Grand Park is nestled among the city buildings in the heart of downtown.  I’ve been looking for a chance to visit this park and today was the day!  I always like visiting downtown on the weekend to avoid the crowds and traffic. The weather was gorgeous today!  My daughter and I made our way to one of the many tables of supplies and helped ourselves to a little basket of drawing materials.  We

Drawing With Children – Mother & Daughter Artists

Finding time to draw with my child is something I look forward to.  This weekend my daughter delighted herself in writing and illustrating two little books.  She gathers paper and has me “bind” it with staples and off she goes to write and draw.  One little book was about tying her shoes and the other about the Powerpuff Girls – she’s 5 with diverse interests ;o). She said that she wanted to be an author when she grew up.  I explained that she didn’t have to be a grown-up to an author, that she could be one now.  Her

Watercolor Painting With My Daughter On Vacation

Our family recently traveled up to the Lake Tulloch area of California for a mini vacation.  I was eager to escape the traffic and congestion of Los Angeles in exchange for blue skies and beautiful landscapes.  I was very pleased with my choice of location to spend a few days away enjoying nature.  We were met at our vacation cabin by neighborhood deer, a wandering fox, and roaming wild turkeys.  With such a great landscape right outside my window, I couldn’t help but want to capture it with a little watercolor landscape painting.  My daughter is always eager to create

Free Museum Days in LA for Kids

My daughter and I talk about drawing and painting everyday.  Today she had fun drawing by turning a simple piece of paper into a “phone”.  She drew the buttons, added some lines for numbers to call and then made one for all of us so we could “talk”.  I love how she just decided to create them out of paper with a pen.  In this day of technology, it’s a wonder that my kid still says “Mom, can I have a piece of paper and a pen?”.  I know that as a Mom who supports drawing and painting for kids,

Anyone Can Be An Artist: We’re Born To Create

Drawing and Painting are the most basic means of creative expression for any human being and nurturing that desire in our children is imperative.   I truly feel that as a Mom, I am my daughter’s first teacher, not only in Art, but in everything.  It is my obligation and privilege to show her new things, bring new experiences to her world and share with her endless possibilities that lie ahead for her in this life. As an Artist, it was natural for me to want to draw and paint with her from the time she was old enough to finger
